A cutting edge, altruistic, green collaboration

between an innovative rural community, and an urban business.

The Sharei Shamayim project will make use of, and promote, Israel's cutting edge green products and technologies to create new models of sustainable living, business and education. The focal point of this project will be a diverse, warm and welcoming Torah community, which provides an inspiring answer to many of the modern world's most pressing questions. The community will provide a safe, nurturing, self-sufficient Torah home to "pioneer" families; and a haven home for those needing assistance. In addition to the food and energy created on-site, the community will provide products to, and receive support from, an urban green business that will serve as a showcase for the ways in which all our lives are improved by sustainable technology. Both the business and the community will serve as education centers, teaching people of all backgrounds and ages how sustainable technologies can be combined with back-to-basics to enrich our lives.  In addition to our community's sustainable housing, we want to build several "tiny houses" for the free use of those needing to get out of a DV situation, but who lack a safe place to go; and while staying as our "guests", they, along with all who are touched by Sharei Shamayim's educational programming will be empowered to take steps toward self-sufficiency.

PART 1 ~ PLANT THE SEED

In order to create our shared dream, we are in need of seed funding, and/or land, engineering and construction expertise, and any/all other valuable contributions ~ let us know what you have to share ~ we're open to all creative ideas!

....The SEED (literally):

Our community co-op greenhouses will be planted only with organic, non-GMO seed. For the initial plantings, we will need to gather a supply of these seeds, with as much variety as possible.

PART 3 ~ PIONEERS

Will you be among the first families to be our community "pioneers"? Our goal is to build in phases, with a few families joining the community in each phase. Do you have skills and talents to share with the community (teacher, shochet, horticulturist, etc.)? If you are interested in being a part of our community, we would love to hear from you; please contact us and tell us about you/your family!

PART 5 ~ "EDU-VAN"

We want to create a miniature version of our aquaponic system within a mobile classroom, traveling to others to spread the information, and assist others who desire to set up their own systems - either for their community, or simply their own family.

PART 2 ~ Spread the word!

While we are in the "seed funding" phase, please participate by submitting posts and videos of your family's dreams of being a part of this type of community, and related DIY projects. Share them with us, and we may post them on our blog - and then other community members might just see who their new neighbors may be!   :-)

PART 4 ~ RETAIL VENTURE

FARMERS MARKET

Our goal is to work in collaboration with a "Marketplace of the Future" - a retail establishment in the city, that will encompass  not only our greenhouse and smokehouse technology, but will also be a kosher grocery and restaurant, as well as other Jewish-owned businesses; and will showcase and promote Israeli products, all in a centralized, green-engineered marketplace.

Moreover, once our community, and it's production, is established, we plan to begin a monthly "Farmer's Market", open to the public, selling our organic produce, fish and smokehouse meats, as well as any hand-crafted items that community members wish to exhibit and offer for sale.

PART 6 ~ SISTER COMMUNITY IN ISRAEL

We want to develop a sister community in Israel, with reciprocity, to assist each other, and enable community members to travel between the two. Additionally, we want to partner with Jewish Family Service (in the USA), and with Yad L'Achim (in Israel), in order to provide safe housing for Jewish women leaving domestic violence situations.
